art & words | StoryPeople

I love it when you stumble upon something you love in an unexpected place. While on a home tour last week (or maybe it was the week before), I stopped in the hallway to read the words on a funky, colorful print. The words stuck with me and I posted them on Facebook, only to have my friend identify the famous author: Brian Andreas. I had no idea it was a part of a whole SERIES of wonderful prints and stories called StoryPeople. Here is how the StoryPeople describe who they are:

We're a diverse group of people, artists, activists, healers, tinkerers. We talk, we laugh, we eat great food & drink great wine, sometimes we disagree (passionately) & sometimes we agree (equally passionately) & it's all part of the same gift of being alive together. Our wish is that other people experience this amazing world we live in as a world of imagination & possibility & healing. We believe our stories do that. (& that's not just StoryPeople stories, but all our stories...) We believe (fiercely) in the power of stories, not because they're our stories, but because it is valuable & right to protect the precious connections between people.

camel comedy

In the mood for some comic relief? Check out this comedy blog called Camel Commander. Here's a little taste to whet your appetite...

Local Organic Healthy Community Comrade!

"I moved to Portland, and I’m pretty excited because it’s just sooo easy to live the values I value here. I went to the co-op today, which is the oldest and biggest food co-op in the country. Soo yeah, it’s pretty great.

No, I’m sorry, I totally would show you around but you’re not allowed to go inside if you’re not a member. It’s just fairer that way, you know? Also, there’s no way you could possibly be eating as mindfully as us if you’re not a member and it’s just something we all have in common. It’s really a community there.

So as I was saying, I just feel like even though I still drive a car and own two $10,000 strollers for my two adorable Ethiopian babies--Injera and Salaam--who I flew over on their own personal jets when I adopted them, I’m really living sustainably this way. I mean, sure I could just go to one of the other four supermarkets in a six block radius. Sure they’re “convenient” and provide corporate "employment" opportunities. But how could I sleep at night like that?"
